They are in honor of my friend, Martha Hill, who recently passed away.
She was a woman of peace.
I strung them between my wind chimes and a beautiful bell. I love to hear both of these when the wind moves them. It's a peaceful sound.
Hope everyone takes a moment today to think about peace. I know I will.
that is just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThank you. This was definitely a labor of love (of my friend). She really loved color.
Deletethese are simply lovely - i cannot believe how beautifully they turned out - your friend is near and smiling for sure -
ReplyDeleteMary Jane...I meant to thank you so much for doing this. I am so loving seeing all the various flags. It also was so very cathartic for me. Thank you, thank you! (I'm in for 2013)
DeleteJulie, I've seen a lot of your work over the years and these flags are some of the best. They are exquisite.
ReplyDeleteThanks...my heart was really in this project. I'm so happy with how it all worked out. I also think that it's the first fiber piece in a while that really had meaning for me...guess that translated!
DeleteThey are gorgeous! Lots of love and dedication there, I'm sure Martha smiles every time the wind-chimes and the bell sound :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ersi. I'm also hoping Martha is smiling down on them!
DeleteTB-what a beautiful way to honour a friend - not only in the exquisite work but the messages and the strength of your work. Thank you sharing this. B

Wow. These flags have a such a strength and care about them - bold yet gentle if you know what I mean. What a beautiful and stunning way to honour your friend. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Fiona. I have a view of the flags right now...a bit wind tossed. As I look at them, I think about Martha. I'm happy I was able to share a bit about her...such a kind, caring person. I'm sure she would have taken part in this project...she was just that sort.--Julie
